Holiday jobs to fund studies

Three-quarters of students have a holiday job to help fund their university studies research shows. About 73% of students said they had a job to help cover the cost of their degree, up from 66% in 2008 according to a survey by Opinionpanel Research on behalf of high street bank Halifax.

A release on this research by the Press Association starts:

Three-quarters of students have a holiday job to help fund their university studies,  research shows. About 73% of students said they had a job to help cover the cost of their  degree, up from 66% in 2008, according to high street bank Halifax.

Just under half also had a part-time job they did during term time, with the average student
working for 13.5 hours a week, while one in 10 worked for more than 20 hours a week.
People in their third year at university were most likely to have a job with 81% working during the holidays.
