Low prices mean youngsters drink rather than do other activities

Cheap alcohol and the way it is promoted encourages excessive drinking, according a new survey of 1,000 16-24 year olds.
They claimed most young people are ‘drinking to get drunk’, with Buy One Get One Free offers encouraging binge drinking.
The general affordability of alcohol, and attractive price promotions in particular, mean it is often cheaper to drink than to do other activities with friends, said a report based on the survey findings.
