A letter was published in November’s edition of Research Magazine by Professor Martin Collins and Mia Lorenz of Opinionpanel. They expressed concern over comments made by the ARF’s Bob Barocci likening the online MR industry to the “Wild West”, which news editor Brian Tarran said “conjured visions of… a lawless place full of chancers”. Prof. Collins and Mrs Lorenz state that the ‘quality marks’ systems Mr Tarran calls for are already in place, and Opinionpanel will certainly be signing up to the coming ISO standard on the management of ‘access panels’. They also state that “responsible panels are exceptionally careful in their recruitment, conduct rigorous identity verification and treat their panellists with respect – all of which helps to ensure highly representative and valid research”.
